Theology, Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies, Tenure Track Position Details Job Title: Theology, Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies, Tenure Track Position Number: Job Category: University Faculty Job Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Campus: Rogers Park-Lake Shore Campus Department Name: THEOLOGY Salary Range: $80,000 – $87,000 Benefits Information: View Benefits The Department of Theology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2025. The department serves the university’s undergraduate core curriculum and offers undergraduate majors and minors in Theology and Religious Studies. We welcome candidates with strong research and teaching profiles in Islamic Studies, Islamic theology, comparative religion, and theory and method in the study of religion. This position involves teaching undergraduate courses in the core curriculum such as Islam, Quran, Topics in Islam, and Introduction to Religious Studies, as well as more specialized courses for majors and minors. Candidates for the position must demonstrate a record of active scholarship, strong competencies in the languages relevant to their areas of specialization, and overall excellence in teaching and student mentorship (or the potential for such). Qualifications: The candidate will have a PhD in Islamic Studies or a cognate field with expertise in Islam at the time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate clear potential for excellence in research and teaching, obtaining external funding, and student mentorship.
