Position Overview: As a key player in the country’s food supply chain, Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers' products arrive on time and in excellent condition. Our drivers are not just carriers; they build lasting relationships with our customers! This CDL A Driver Trainee role is designed for entry-level individuals eager to learn and gain experience in hauling freight and operating tractor trailers. In this position, you will assist designated driver trainers with deliveries and routes while interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring their questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities Include: Complete the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program as required. Assist and ride with driver trainers during deliveries. Conduct all necessary safety checks, including pre/post-trip inspections of vehicles following DOT regulations. Report safety issues and required repairs promptly. Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving guidelines. Inspect trailers to ensure freight is loaded and secured properly. Perform count checks and ensure accuracy of customer invoices. Operate the tractor to move trailers to the loading dock. Deliver customer orders as per the scheduled route. Unload products into designated storage areas at customer locations. Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain signatures. Collect cash or checks where necessary. Handle customer returns and secure trailer doors appropriately. Maintain cleanliness and organization both in the tractor and loading dock area. Complete daily records of hours worked in compliance with Federal DOT requirements. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the team. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Internal Candidates: Minimum of 1 year in good standing with the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program and ability to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card. External Entry Level Candidates: 0-11 months valid CDL-A. Must be 21 years of age or older. Comply with all state licensing and certification requirements. Possess a Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years. Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check. Successfully complete a road test. Hold a valid DOT Health Card or be able to obtain one.
